Early-stage venture capital will have plenty of exit options given the growing pool of late-stage capital. Compare this with venture capital where, according to KPMG’s Venture Pulse Q2 2018, total venture capital invested globally in Q2 2018 was approximately $70 billion. After all, the amount invested in Q2 2018 was seven times that invested in Q2 2010. Their reports further add that 61% of the venture capital volume raised in Q2 2018 was through deals of $100 million or more. While early-stage venture firms will now have plenty of options to exit their portfolio given this growing pool of late-stage capital, it will be up to the late-stage venture funds to figure out the best ways to exit these mega unicorns that are now flush with private capital.
